visionwalk

ok ok...

Its been another month since my last post, but it has been a pretty crazy last month! It has been full of all nighters, but I have work to show. For starters, I'll show my internship "final," which is a commercial I have been working on. Here is an almost finalized version (we need to make a few audio tweaks) but here it is!

Its been a while

Sorry I haven't updated for about a month now. Let's recap!

Soulja Boy was a great night, and a Birthday to remember.

After that things returned to normal at work. I have been keeping busy doing print design stuff lately. I am more familiar to making things move and animate rather than stay in one frame. I'll be the first to say it isn't any easier than making something move. That one still image has to be perfect, while sometimes in animation you can mess up a frame or to and no one would know the difference. It's something I already knew, but as of lately its something that I am truly realizing. As for school, I have less than 18 days to finish a 3 and a half minute animation. I have one minute thus far, on top of that I also have another 3 to 4 minute animation due 2 weeks after that. It is a crazy time, but its kind of a rush and exciting, and also scary and frustrating. I'll try to blog a bit more often to keep you up to date and to also remind you that my senior show is April 30th at NIU in Altgled Hall at 7:00pm. For more details check out art.niu.edu/senior08 for more details.

Soulja Boy tickets / A Balcom Vetillo adventure

Ok, your probably wondering about the picture and the title of this entry, but I promise you that this is work related.

So the silent auction dinner I hinted at in my last blog, it was a lot of fun. The magician was a little corny, but he was very entertaining. The food was great, and a lot of people donated to help towards the cause of this banquet, which was raising money for a local mental health center. Balcom Vetillo does many of there advertisements as well... But anyway since it was a silent auction there was a lot up for bid. Autographed sport stuff, gateway packages, gift certificates, a Nintendo Wii (which REALLY wanted), and even a puppy! Among all of these items, stored away in the corner was sky box tickets for 20 people to go see Soulja boy (the guy on the picture). I joked about wanting to go, so I put a bid in...

What started as a joke turned into a serious bid and competition to get these tickets. The tickets looked out of site until the members of the Balcom Vetillo table decided to pitch in for the cause. It was down to the final 5 seconds, and we were just outbid. Gary, the hero of this story, swooped in and out bid the woman next to him, getting us the tickets for March 21st.

sky box tickets, 250 dollars worth of food, hanging out with co-workers and friends while watching Souja Boy, I can't wait.

oh one more thing, March 21st is my birthday, makes it all the better.

oh, yeah as for work, I'm one spring break so I am hear all week which is more exciting than CANCUN!... oh well, the weather seems to be getting nicer.

Thats all for today,

Augie

mustache march!

On a side note, it is mustache march, meaning if you see me with a little mustache at work, its because it is a tradition for me and a few buddies of mine.

Work is a blast, we have a couple new clients so its fun and busy. Tomorrow there is an event taking place at Altgled Castle. That is probably the most most recognizable place on campus. On of our clients is having a dinner/ silent auction. I'm very excited about it, it should be fun. A magician will be doing magic tricks too.

Tasks for today,

Finish up flash animation with snow
update the tribune writers' site
enjoy friday!

adios and happy spring break

Master Gardener

The MASTER gardener himself...

Ok... I have to take a break from talking about what I do here at Balcom-Vetillo. I wanna talk about the highlight of Wednesday... Mike (da boss!) does a radio segment called Master Gardener for a radio station that broadcasts in Lee County. I don't have a garden, but if I did I would have to listen to the advice Mike gives on his radio show. Its so cool, he just calls up the radio station is all like "hey how's it going," then he starts this countdown, "5...4...3...2...1... Hi, this is Mike Balcom Vetillo, Master Gardener with the Northern Illinois extension Lee County." He does the show while sitting in his work chair... How cool is that. So yeah I might be putting together something in Flash, which i'll admit I enjoy doing, but when Mike picks up that phone, that's the best part of the day. I work with the MASTER GARDENER! haha ok, thats my aside for the day,

Happy Hump Day

Yeah, the week is already half way over. I don't have any school this week because of the events that took place last week, so I have been taking the time to see my family and catch up on some homework. I will post some screen shots from my work in progress. As for things at work, I am still reworking a website, quite the hassle, but hey its a learning experience. Yeah, I gotta get some coffee stat!

niu tragedy

Hey everyone,

You all probably know about the events that took place yesterday. It is surreal, tragic, and I still can't believe that it happened. I wasn't on campus when it all took place, I can't even imagine what it may have been like to be in that room. I've had class in there numerous times, have stood on that stage for an intro to theater class, I can visualize that room clearly, it just frightens me. Please keep all the victims and their families in your thoughts and prayers.
